Now that you’ve seen the Starbuck’s coffee cup speakers, check out this nifty Tie Fighter, which is comprised of “1 tall lid, 12 small sample cups, 37 grande cups, 63 drink sleeves, 10 of those large 96oz. coffee boxes, and 216 stirrers.” Click here for the materials list.
Photographer Dan Winters (from WIRED) saw all those cups, stirrers and other paper miscellany and was inspired to turn them into an awesome TIE Fighter model.

Here’s an inside look at the Nokia Damage Test Lab, where workers get to “play with a bunch of machines that bend, bake, humidify, spray, poke and drop phones.” Click here for first picture in gallery.
When testing is finished, they have a battery of analytic procedures to determine how well or how poorly a phone held up. This includes analyzing a phone under electron microscopes, 3D X-rays and X-ray Spectroscopes to check for any related damage.

With an ultra high-speed camera, “GE scientists captured details of water droplets dancing on amazing superhydrophobic surfaces developed in GE Global Research’s Nanotechnology lab.” Video after the break.
We discovered that even when the surfaces had the same contact angle for stationary water droplets, their ability to resist the wetting of impacting droplets could be totally different.

The all-new 2009 Infiniti G37 convertible “has unique bodywork, an upgraded interior and a three-piece retractable hardtop — add to that Infiniti’s new 3.7-liter V6 and this G37 drop top should have no trouble erasing the bad taste left behind by the M30.” Video after the break. Click here for first picture in gallery.
No fuel-efficiency figures are available yet, but expect them to be slightly lower than the coupe’s numbers of 18 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway.

Called “Glassy Glassy”, here’s yet another glass phone concept with dual touchscreens. Though not very practical or rugged for that matter, it’s a beautiful design nonetheless. Click here for first picture in gallery.
And with a full-glass (and a little bit of plastic) construction, I wouldn’t be using it on anything but pure-pc-clean-hands days.

Put simply, “while trying to grease-up the Space Stations creaky solar-panel-rotating gears, some grease accidentally squirts into the toolbag, and astronaut H.S. Piper loses her bag while trying to clean it up.” Video after the break.
(In case you are wondering what happens if an Astronaut floats away, note the large white backpack on the back of the spacesuit; this is known as the “SAFER” unit and is a jet-powered backpack to allow the astronaut to float back to the station during U.S. spacewalks. To the best of my knowledge, it has never been needed.

Located in the middle of a redwood tree, this amazing structure “will be a smallish restaurant built by, of all people, the NZ Yellow Pages.” Click here for first picture in gallery.
It’s currently under construction from laminated pine, plantation poplar and redwood thirty feet up a giant tree in a place north of Auckland.
